About Me

I have always been interested in understanding people and their multifaceted life stories which brought me to the field of psychology.

I have a Master of Arts in Community Counselling Psychology from the University of the Witwatersrand. My training exposed me to various modalities of psychotherapy which has allowed me to take on an integrative approach, drawing on Psychodynamic, Narrative and DBT techniques. I strive to understand my clients on a deeper level by getting to know their life stories in a way that is collaborative and facilitates a safe space. I aim to help clients gain a sense of clarity and work toward facilitating a sense of empowerment.

I have had experiences with my own mental health challenges as well as that of my family. This has made me aware of the complex ways which mental health struggles affect us personally but also those we are close to. I am aware that there is a tendency to keep these issues silent and thus there is a lack of acceptance and support that a lot of us face resulting in feelings of loneliness and alienation. These feelings prompted me to seek therapy at the age of 17. I feared being judged and misunderstood once again but found that I received quite the opposite in therapy, which was comforting and affirming for me. Through my own journey with therapy, I have come to view myself with less judgement and view these challenges in a way that has empowered me. These experiences allow me to be an advocate for mental health and its normalisation.

I believe that diversity and cultural sensitivity are important and work in a manner that is mindful and accommodating of this. I work therapeutically with clients to help them gain a greater sense of awareness of the intersectional nature of their identities and make use of their inner strengths.
